The project was presented this morning to the State Government and local authorities in a hearing held at Palácio Iguaçu, seat of the Government of Paraná.

Puerto Iguazú fair: how to visit the most traditional fair on the border 43
The market in Puerto Iguazú
Think of a place where colors and flavors mix and make us sigh. This place has a name: Puerto Iguazú market, and it is close to Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná.
The Puerto Iguazú fair - as it is called the most traditional open-air fairin the city - is a few kilometers from the border between Brazil and Argentina, and despite being very simple, it exudes tradition.
I myself have visited the fair when i was still a boy. At that time, my bag carried green apples. Today, the goods are different, and they are part of my best memories.
The market in Puerto Iguazú
The fair is small. There are just a few stalls selling cheeses, olives, dulce de leche, salami, olive oil, wine and many - many indeed - different types of alfajor.
So, be prepared to want everything and buy what you can, because the prices are very attractive.
The transportation between Foz do Iguaçu and Paraguay is around 5h 30m and covers a distance of around 345 km.

ITINERARY
Suggested Itinerary:
- Best hour to start 08:30 departure from your hotel to either Luque City or Itagua TownThe world's largest power plant impresses with its size and structure. Located between Brazil and Paraguay, the Itaipu Binacional Damiis the result of the union of two peoples, technology, engineering. Giving new aspect to the region.
The artificial reservoir lake formed around in the Paraná Riverbed. It has a length of 170 km. Itis possible to observe the immensity of this lake when passing by the top of the dam or navigating in some of the circuits offered by the tourist complex. There are 20 turbines, which are the large white tubes that protrude perpendicularly from the huge concrete wall. The flow capacity of each one of these conduits is 690 m³ per second, exactly every of the average flow of the Iguassu Falls.
The eight artificial beaches located on the Brazilian shore of Lake Itaipu were considered excellent for bathing, according to a bathing bulletin released this week by the Paraná Environmental Institute (IAP). Water samples collected on the beaches of Foz do Iguaçu, Santa Terezinha de Itaipu, São Miguel do Iguaçu, Itaipulândia, Missal, Santa Helena, Entre Rios do Oeste and Marechal Cândido Rondon were analyzed. Water collection was carried out between November 14th and December 12th of last year.
“I believe that the Cultivando Água Boa project, developed by Itaipu throughout the Paraná III Basin, is being of great importance to maintain the quality of the water in Lake Itaipu”, says the Brazilian director general of Itaipu Binacional, Jorge Samek. The analyzes indicate, mainly, that the water of the reservoir of the hydroelectric of Itaipu is free of fecal coliforms, bacteria that can cause several types of illnesses in the bathers, among them, infections in the nose and ear, gastrointeritis, hepatitis type A, typhoid fever. and anger. The Itaipu researchers warn, however, that this water can only be used for human consumption after being treated.
With 1,350 square kilometers, Lake Itaipu, although it supplies the water that drives the turbines of the largest hydroelectric plant in the world, is the seventh in size compared to other Brazilian artificial lakes —it loses to the reservoirs of the plants of Sobradinho, Tucuruí, Porto Primavera , Balbina, Serra da Mesa and Furnas. The Brazilian shore alone, where the artificial beaches are located, is 1,395 kilometers long. The Paraguayan margin has another 1,524 kilometers in length. Contrary to what happens in Lake Itaipu, the water on most beaches on the coast of Paraná was considered unsuitable for bathing, according to analyzes carried out by the IAP. Of the 36 water samples collected on the coast, 20 were considered inadequate. Pollution is almost double that recorded in the same period last year, according to the IAP.

Attraction on the Paraguayan side of the Triple Border
The official name is Monday Falls. The falls of the Monday River are located in the city of Presidente Franco, in Paraguay, next to Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil), and are part of the tourist attractions and preservation area of the Trinacional Region, known as Triple Border, where two rivers (Iguassu and Paraná) and three countries (Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay) meet. The Monday Falls are located on its left bankin a 9-hectare Municipal Park and are protected on the right bank by the 450-hectare Maharishi Private Nature Reserve. The waters that pass through the waterfall with an average flow rate of 100 cubic meters per second drop, without warning, from a height of 40 meters, half the height of the Iguaçu Falls jumps in the Iguaçu/Iguazú National Parks.
The Municipal Park, administered by the private initiative, has structure to receive visitors, with restaurant, bar, bathrooms, parking and an elevator that allows access to the base of the falls. The structure includes viewpoints of the falls that are part of the family of large and small waterfalls of the Terra das Muitas Águas, characterized by the presence of the Atlantic Forest, the black basalt and a rich fauna and flora linked to the environment of the waterfalls.
Visitors to the Monday Falls may explore leisure and activity options. The 450 hectares of the Maharishi Reserve are considered as an important sample of the Upper Paraná Atlantic Forest (BAAP) in the Paraguayan Upper Paraná state and from eastern Paraguay. “Atlantic Forest of Upper Paraná"is how Paraguayans call the Atlantic Forest. The space is home to 59 plant species, 20 orchid species and 277 bird species, seven of which are considered endangered.
Still on the right bank, linked to the Municipal Park, is the Aventura Monday Park, with another seven hectares, offering activities such as rafting, zip lining, arborism and archery. On the opposite side of the Adventure Parkis the Maharishi Reserve, which also offers adventure-centered attractions, nature contemplation and views of the Monday Falls. There is a crossing that allows connecting the two attractions.
The river
“Monday”is the name of the river where the waterfalls are located. The word“Monday” has nothing to do with“Monday" in English. “Mondá” means “thief” and“Y" means water in Guarani, Paraguay's official language along with Spanish. “Monday” brings to mind the idea of a “water that disappeared” quickly. This is what happens to someone who has unwittingly sailed the river, believing it will flow calmly to its mouth and suddenly the water disappears, leaving the boat without “ground”. Hence, the Guarani attributed to this phenomenon the image of a “stolen water" or something that stole the water, leaving the imagination free to ask: where is the water that was here?
After millions of years of formation and thanks to the patient work of erosion, the Monday Falls are today where they are. Not long ago, geologically speaking, the Monday River flowed straight into the Paraná River, just below the Triple Border Landmark, in the Triple Border region, where two rivers and three countries meet. With the erosion, the waterfalls were formatted where they are today in the Municipal Park Monday, in the city of Presidente Franco, 10 kilometers from the International Friendship Bridge.
Thus, the flow of the Monday Falls corresponds on average to about 7% of the average flow of the Iguazu Falls. The Monday Falls share with the Iguazu Falls the same geological age, the same geological formation and the same vegetation around it, the large forest as well as those born in the rocks on the cliff walls, and even the same birds, the taperuçu of waterfalls (Cypseloides senex), which live, build nests and make magnificent flutters amidst the mists of the Monday Falls. Visitors of the Monday Falls are also welcomed with one or more rainbows, depending on the sun rays' encounter with water droplets suspended in the environment, just as it happens with its more famous sister in the Iguassu river.

Being able to observe the meeting of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina is a particularity of the Triple Border. Each of the three countries has a tourist spot, known as Marco das Três Fronteiras, with an obelisk in national colors. The spaces are visited by tourists from all over the world, the one in Paraguay a little less for not being located so close. However, the Marco do Brasil and Argentina have intense movement.
The Three Borders Landmark on the Argentine side is located on the bank of the Iguaçu River where the Paraná River meets. The view of the Three Borders of the Argentinean Landmark allows you to appreciate Paraguay to the left and, further on, Brazil.
